On October 27th, 2022, members of the test group of the Flight Test Center of Liaoning General Aviation Academy and Yin Chong,deputy director of theFlight Performance Office of Shenyang Aircraft Airworthiness Certification Center of CAAC, jointly organized an RX4E four-seater electric aircraft emergency evacuation drill at Caihu airport in Faku of Liaoning Province. The purpose of the emergency evacuation drill is to verify that all members of the aircraft can safely evacuate the aircraft in a short period of time when the aircraft encounters a landing emergency or a ground accident.
This emergency evacuation drillwas the second one conducted by RX4E aircraft, and two emergency evacuation drills have different purposes and meanings. The purpose of theformer one was to demonstrate that the RX4E aircraft meets the requirements of regulations, and tended to be the withdrawal test after the RX4E aircraftwas put into the market and combined with the market operation. This drill focused on the emergency evacuation drill trainingwhichorganized for the flight crew members during the verification test flight and certification test flight. Yin Chong, flight test engineer of Shenyang Aircraft Airworthiness Certification Center of CAAC, participated in this drill as one of the members of testing group.
Before the test,the leader convened the preparation meetingforparticipants, explaining and emphasizing the purpose of this test, the process, the division of personnel, matters needing attention and so on. At the same time, communicating with Yin Chong, deputy director, about the internal situation of the aircraft cabin, the use of seats and other parts, the evacuation procedures and so on, madeparticipants fully understood the characteristics ofthis type aircraft, which was not only conducive to the drill, but alsomade more adequate preparations for evacuation in emergency situations.
In order to fully reflect the significance of the emergency evacuation drill, the personnel on the drillwere test pilots and test flight engineers. At the same time, the person in charge of the test communicated with Yin Chong on the spot to confirm that the test was conducted according to the two evacuation drills. In the first evacuation drill, Yin Chong, sat in the front seat of the main driver to simulate the evacuation position of the test pilot;in the seconddrill, Yin Chong sat on the right side of the back row to simulate the evacuation position of test flight engineer.
With the two start commands, the emergency evacuation drill was successfully completed in 45 seconds and 35 seconds respectively, fully meeting the 90-second time limit required by regulations, which not only verified the regulatory compliance of RX4E aircraft, but also laid the foundation for the next step of the Bureau’s flight test personnel training.
